The
First and Second Teaching Hospitals, Tianjin University of TCM, Established in
1950s and 1960s, have been clinical practice facilities for students
from Tianjin University of TCM since then. They are national centres appointed
to educate national and international undergraduates and post-graduates
(PhD’s and Masters).
Authorized
by the National TCM Administration Bureau, the hospitals are accredited training
institutions for overseas TCM students and practitioners. For several decades,
they have trained a large number of students. More than 400 trainees from
overseas are trained in the hospitals every year.
There
are over 1800 beds in these hospitals. The number of patients are receiving TCM
treatment in out-patient departments of the two hospitals are 6,000 per day on average, sometimes up to
9,000, including
patients from over 20 countries.
The
first teaching hospital is also one of a hundred better hospitals of China, is
the national demonstration TCM hospital at the provincial level; it has successfully
hosted eight International Conferences of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in the
past 15 years.
